USA Fit Adventure Racing offers specialized training for aspiring and experienced adventure racers looking to improve their performance, or anyone looking to improve their fitness and have fun by participating in a variety of endurance sports. Members receive instruction in running, biking, paddling, navigation and occasionally other disciplines that may be encountered during an adventure race.

Houston Fit AR is the Houston chapter of USA Fit AR. Houston Fit AR offers two programs throughout the year: a novice program and a veteran program. The novice program, which is three times a year, prepares members for a sprint adventure race that is held at the conclusion of each season. The spring season spans January through April, the summer season runs from May through July, and the Fall season begins in August and runs through November. All three novice programs culminate in an exciting race, after which members can call themselves true adventure racers! The second program, the veteran program, is for experienced adventure racers, or people looking for a greater challenge. This program trains members through the entire adventure racing season, peaking racers late in the year when many adventure racing championships are held.

The practice schedule for both programs includes two practices per week and two weekend practices per month, for a total of 10 practices per month. Most practices take place at Memorial Park and are led by a group of experienced coaches. The novice program is coached by a group of experienced adventure racers while the veteran program is coached by sport-specific specialists who can offer a higher level of instruction. Practices rotate through the various disciplines, although members can expect to participate in more than one discipline per practice. Weekend practices will be reserved for training efforts in "fringe" disciplines that racers may need to be familiar with (such as rollerblading, climbing or ropes work), endurance efforts in a particular discipline or a multi-sport effort of some kind (a "brick" or "trick"). See our FAQs section for more information, and be sure to check out our photo gallery for pictures of members in action!
